Note To send to the Oulim TV app, the Oulim app must be open on the TV. If the app is closed or the TV is off, it won’t be listed. If the same TV supports Chromecast, it shows up as Chromecast instead.
Sending
- Play a video on your phone or tablet and tap Cast at the top.
- Pick the TV in Cast to. The type is shown under the name: Oulim TV app · Chromecast · DLNA.
- The TV picks up from the same spot, and your phone switches to a remote.
- Devices are searched only while Cast to is open. If you turned the TV on later, tap Search again.
- If this device is on the free plan, This is a Pro feature appears at the top and the rows are dimmed. The Oulim TV app also needs Pro on the TV, so if the TV is free only that row is dimmed with The TV also needs Pro.
- A Chromecast row reading May not play · MKV means that TV may not open this format. You can still send it; if it fails, playback continues on your phone.
- The Oulim TV app is listed only for videos the TV can reach itself — videos from the same NAS or the same Oulim PC, DLNA server videos, and files on your phone.
- On tablets and desktop it opens as a small window under the Cast button. Desktop sends to Chromecast and DLNA.
Your phone as the remote
- The top shows the TV name, like Playing on Living room. Play, pause, skip 10 seconds or drag the time bar to control the TV.
- With the Oulim TV app, tap the subtitle or audio chip to switch the TV’s track. Chromecast and DLNA keep what was selected when sending.
- Continue on this device closes playback on the TV and resumes on your phone from the same spot.
- Use Casting · Change device at the top to move to another TV. Collapsing the remote drops to the mini player and keeps casting.
- You can also use the TV remote — your phone follows along.
Tip Playback sent to the Oulim TV app leaves no watch history or resume point on either the phone or the TV, so a quick big-screen session doesn’t clutter Continue watching.
On the TV
- Cast from [phone name] briefly appears above the controls.
- If the phone disconnects, the TV keeps playing. [phone name] disconnected shows for a moment, and from then on you use the TV remote.
- Your phone’s remote shows Lost connection to the TV with Reconnect · Close. If reconnecting fails, check that the Oulim app is open on the TV.
If your TV isn’t listed
- Check that the Oulim app is open on the TV (when sending to the Oulim TV app).
- Make sure the phone and TV are on the same Wi-Fi. If 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz have different names, join the same one.
- Check Settings › Privacy & lock › Visible to nearby devices on the TV.
- Make sure both are added to the same PC or paired as nearby devices (see ‘Use your PC as a NAS’ and ‘Move files and settings between devices’).
- Turn off client isolation (AP isolation · guest network) on your router or use your regular Wi-Fi. A VPN can also block device discovery.
Tip Sending works only on the same Wi-Fi. You can’t send to your home TV from outside.
